TM-231 / R9M2 device

The KCS TraceME TM-231 / R9M2 is one of the smallest and lightest GPS track-and-trace units in the world. It is targeted for tracking a variety of compact objects, or even small animals.

With the TM-231, you are in control of your objects. You will know where they are and know their actual and historical status.

The TM-231 has a minimal size of 35 x 16.9 mm and weighs of only 3.5 grams enable tracking of smaller animals e.g. endangered species and small birds. It can be mounted easily at different places of the animal. Successful field trials by wildlife science experts have proven that the unit doesn’t affect the natural behaviour of the animal.

The device offers excellent worldwide quad-band GSM/GPRS coverage and is equipped with a low-power GPS receiver. The device is equipped with a solar rechargeable integrated battery, I/O-connectivity and multiple on-board sensors.

What power input voltage does the TM-231 / R9M2 require?
The unit is designed with an autonomous and highly flexible power circuit. It comfortably operates on a power input ranging approximately 5VDC. Additionally, it combines ultra-low active power peaks with deep-sleep states for prolonged lifespan.
What are the major tracking systems and connectivity embedded in this TraceME device?
The TM-231 / R9M2 is highly versatile, bringing cutting-edge tracking technology onto a single PCB. Leading systems natively provided include GPS, and Quad-band GSM/GPRS. Ensure you review the 'Optional Add-ons' tab for further sensor extensions.
Is it possible to customize the TM-231 / R9M2 firmware for our OEM needs?
Absolutely. All KCS TraceME hardware can be customized on a granular level. From custom outer casing designs and I/O pin event programming, to tailor-made intelligent firmware behavior.
How does the TM-231 / R9M2 handle active data privacy and security?
TraceME hardware interfaces directly with secure infrastructure without third-party bottlenecks. It natively supports advanced device-side encryption protocols enabling highly private, fully sealed data routing.
Are firmware updates supported over-the-air (FOTA)?
Yes, practically all modern TraceME units are designed with two-way communication supporting crucial FOTA (Firmware Over The Air). This means device behavior and security protocols can be seamlessly updated in the field without retrieval.
